The Entomology department includes all main offices, graduate student offices, and our extension office as well as our research laboratory. We have two additional research units with apiaries: Bee Biology and the Plant Science Research Center at Citra. See below for details on each of our units.

Bee Biology Unit
The Bee Biology unit is an off-campus center located across from the University in Gainesville. At the Honey Bee Biology Unit, we currently house over 20 hives, store most of our research and beekeeping equipment, and teach undergraduate classes that visit once a semester.

Plant Science Research & Education Center
The Plant Science Research & Education Center is located on 1,068 acres and houses 3 seperate apiaries for the HBREL, incliding several Russian hives. The largest apiary is currently involved in the nationwide BEE-CAP project. Because of recent incidents with bears, all apiaries are now protected by electric fencing.
