Tachinid (tack-IN-id) flies ( Tachinidae ) (tack-INN-id-ee) : A family of flies. In this family the adults are free-living, and larvae are parasitoids of insects. There are four developmental phases - egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Ormia is one of the genera included. These flies do not harm people or plants.
